HYPNOTHERAPY

About Hypnotherapy

What is Hypnosis?
Hypnosis is a state of mind, enhanced by mental and physical relaxation, in that state your subconscious is able to communicate with your conscious mind and increase the capacity to respond to suggestions. This state can be achieved through self-hypnosis or with a help of a trained Hypnotherapist.

What is Hypnotherapy?
Hypnotherapy is a mind-body intervention wherein hypnosis is used to improve psychological concerns and well-being. The well-known Psychoanalysis approach of Sigmund Freud was developed in the context of hypnosis and much more recent interventions. However, Hypnotherapy attempts to focus on the client's subconscious mind where all of your learned behaviour and pattern-making systems are located. Not only that, but it also can store your beliefs, experiences, skills you learned and memories.

Freud suggested that our thoughts and emotions which are outside of our awareness continue to influence our behaviour. People are mostly unaware of those underlying influences. In your unconscious, there can be repressed memories or feelings, habits, desires and thoughts.

In a hypnotherapy session, the hypnotherapist and client will discuss the desired therapeutic goals. Also, the hypnotherapist will gather information about the client's current problem, previous medical history, general health and lifestyle to decide the best approach for the client's needs and desired goals. Being person-centred focused simply means that the hypnotherapist will put the centre of attention on the individual needs, preferences, and values and provide a service that is respectful and responsive to the clients.

In practice, the hypnotherapist guides the client to be in a relaxed state and directs the client’s imagination in a way that helps to elicit the changes in the client's perceptions, thoughts, sensations, feelings and behaviours. Therefore, the Hypnotherapist may employ techniques in order to uncover the problems that are situated in the client's past or focus on the current problems in the present. There is a strong link between past experiences and current behaviour. As the events in your childhood or early adulthood shaped the way you think, act, behave and interact with people and the environment around you.

The aim is to change the client's unwanted behaviour patterns, limiting beliefs, unhealthy habits, that do not serve the client anymore. It is only holding you back from your desired outcome whether it is health improvement, a better job, a loving relationship or anything else. Hypnotherapy is considered to be a very helpful approach if the client is motivated to change.
